General description Immunology is one basic Area of Biological Sciences and Health Sciences. This topic introduces students into the world of immune cells and mechanisms required for the generation of a humoral- and cellular-mediated immune responses and how these mechanisms cooperate to organize the innate and adaptive response against pathogens. Likewise, students will learn the immune mechanisms involved in non-infectious (autoimmunity, transplantation, hypersensitivity and cancer) and in the development of novel emerging therapies based on the use of biotechnological products (vaccines, monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins).
