General description We analyze the fundamental characteristics of terrestrial ecosystems and the implications of human management, with particular reference to the importance of environmental indicators and bioindicators. They provide the basis of the procedure of environmental impact assessment of projects. It makes a description of the principal forms of management on terrestrial ecosystems.
