General description This subject is a general microbiology but with a clear relation to the ecology and with an environmental application. The agenda will include the following chapters: (i) beginning of microbiology; (ii) Methods used in environmental micobiology; (iii) a taxonomical view of the bacterial world; (iv) relation between structure and function in procaryotes; (v) bacterial metabolism; (vi) basic genetic and recombination systems in procaryotes; (vii) microorganisms as geochemical agents and microbial interactions; (viii) laboratory practices: this section wouldl include one practice form each section/chapter described above.
