"Continuous assessment marks are awarded for: i) Preparation for and active participation in: in-class and out-of-class activities; peer teaching, review and assessment; self-assessment; the use of ICTs. ii) The development of a writing portfolio iii) Four out-of-class writing assignments (including one ten-page term paper) iv) Preparation of two oral presentations (individual and/or group) including one for video v) Prescribed readings vi) Listening assignments in the language laboratory. "Assessment will be based on marks given for: i) final written examination and an interview ii) writing and speaking assignments. The final examination is similar in level and format to the CPE and is divided primarily into five sections: reading, speaking, writing, listening and language in use. To obtain a pass mark all students are required to pass the final examination. In order to pass the examination students are required to pass all five papers (pass = 50%). In the case of continuous assessment, the final examination will count as 60% of the final mark, while continuous assessment, based on writing and speaking assignments and on participation in class, will account for 40% of the final mark." "
