General description The aim of this subject is to offer the students a panoramic survey of the so-called "non-European Literatures in English" in the twentieth century, as well as Irish literature. We will read texts from Africa, Australia, Canada, the Caribbean, India and Pakistan, Ireland, New Zealand and South Pacific. The focus of the subject will be on certain cross-cultural themes and literary strategies which allow us to define these varied literatures as post-colonial, but always paying attention to the specific particular geographical and historical circumstances that underlie the cultural production on each specific area.
