Descripción general |
The aim of this course is to develop students' translation skills in a variety of registers and styles by translating texts of a technical and scientific nature. Particular attention is placed on the acquisition of the right terminology and on the use of the appropriate register and style. The module involves the study of procedures and techniques for translation and encourages the analysis of translation problems in technical and scientific texts through commentary, comparative analysis and the use of parallel texts. |

Objetivos |
The aim of this course is to develop students' translation skills in a variety of registers and styles by translating texts of a technical and scientific nature. The module involves the study of procedures and techniques for translation and encourages the analysis of translation problems in technical and scientific texts through commentary, comparative analysis and the use of parallel texts. |
Metodologías |
The course will consist of a combination of lectures, seminars and practical classes in the computer room. A number of set readings will be made available at the beginning of the term. Class time will be devoted to a) brief theoretical introductions to the different sections, b) practical examples of the use of the various electronic tools available for computer-assisted translation, and c) the in-class correction of translation tasks, including pre-translation tasks of textual analysis. N.B. As this is a final-year course, students are expected to have a very good command of the English language and native or near-native competence in Spanish. |

Translating the experimental sciences. 5. Translating the bio-medical sciences. 6. Translating the technical sciences. |
