Knowledge of the English language, both oral and written, to CEF level C1. The development of the use of contextually appropriate language and effective communication through exercises in reading,writing, listening and speaking together with in-depth awareness of the structures of English.

  • To provide for the development of the learners' linguistic, socio-linguistic, discourse, strategic, socio-cultural and social competence.
  • To provide for the systematic development of the skills required to pass the examination through the use of a wide range of media, texts and activities designed to meet the learners' needs and interests, and through the provision of the necessary practice material in the examination format.
  • To increase students' understanding of cultures where English is spoken as a first language.
  • To help students to become effective learners and take on responsibility for their own learning .

Objetivos

Metodologías

During the lessons dealing with general English the students will focus on the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in a communicative way by carrying out varied tasks. As for the texts on Linguistics (chosen among the students' fields of interest), they will be analysed during the lessons and/or as homework by completing a series of oral and written activities on their form and meaning.


Contenidos
Bloque Tema
SECTION I. General English. The course will follow the contents (language focus, vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking and writing) of New Headway. Advanced Student's Book by Liz and John Soars. SECTION II: Texts on LINGUISTICS. SECTION III: Job offers, CVs and application letters in the field of LiNGUISTICS. Identifying the rhetorical organization of these genres. Expressing personal, academic and professional characteristics.
