General description	Familiarity with contributions made by the various currents in linguistics during the twentieth century, their basic concepts and methodologies. Study of the principal movements and schools in linguistics in the twentieth century: 1.- de Saussure and European structuralism; 2.- The Prague School, the Copenhagen School, Functionalism; 3.- Bloomfield and American structuralism: distributionalism; 4.- Transformational generative grammar: various models; 5.- Other trends in linguistics; 6.- The linguistics of communication.
