General description | · Harvesting, processing and management of energy resources. · Industries of generation, transmission, transformation and management of electrical and thermal energy. · Nuclear engineering and radiation protection. Acquiring knowledge in nuclear energy and radiation protection. In addition, the student, once the subject has to be able to know: The Geology and obtaining uranium elements. Operations related to the first part of the nuclear fuel cycle. The operations of the second part of the cycle and possibilities of reprocessing spent fuel. Importance of natural and artificial radioactivity. Learn the techniques of radiation protection. Basic characteristics and applications of the detectors. The uranium enrichment processes in the isotope U-235. Nuclear fuel requirements as to purity uranium, impurities and mechanical characteristics. Fission concepts. Different nuclear thermal power generation technologies based on the fuel composition used. Classification of radioactive waste.
