General introduction to sociology rounded out with specialist work and readings on each of the topics in the specialism. Basic concepts. Social structures, relations and institutions. The education system as a social subsystem. Sociology of classroom interactions. Sociology of school organization. Sociology of the curriculum. Sociology of special education. Social factors determining performance at school. Preparation for work and the labour market. Provision of an awareness of the patterns of the society of education. Training of students to evaluate education and schools for themselves. " |
