Descripción general The purpose of the internship is to train students to successfully apply their knowledge and skills and complement them by practitioners’ proceedings in a real working environment, as well as to give them an insight into the job they are aiming for. Within the master programme a three-month internship is obligatory; it has to be completed in a company/institution being relevant for the EMBS. The EMBS coordinators (under the responsibility of the coordinator in León) will evaluate this relevance after the student will send them a short description of the internship project (company, assignment etc.). It is necessary to do the internship in a company outside the home country of the student. Exceptional cases (e.g. deployment in the home country by the company) will be evaluated by the coordinator from León.

Internship INTERNSHIP REGULATION

§ 1 Purpose of the Internship

(1) The purpose of the internship is to train students to successfully apply their knowledge and skills, and complement them by practitioners’ proceedings in a real working environment, as well as to give them an insight into the job they are aiming for.

(2) The internship falls into the responsibility of the University of León. If correctly completed, the internship will be awarded with 10 credits.

§ 2 Requirements and Evaluation of the Internship

(1) The internship has to be completed in a company/institution relevant for the EMBS programme.

(2) EMBS coordinators (under the responsibility of the internships´ coordinator in León) will evaluate this relevance after students have sent them a short description of the internship project: chosen company, assignment given and further information that will be required.

(3) It is necessary to do the internship in a company not located in the home country of the student. Exceptional cases (e.g. deployment in the home country by the company) will be evaluated by the coordinator from León. The basis of the evaluation is an internship report and a company evaluation questionnaire.

(4) The report is weighted with 70%, and the company tutor's evaluation with 30%. The mark of the company evaluation questionnaire is given by the EMBS coordinators (under the responsibility of the coordinator in León), on the basis of their perception of the internship context, activities and outcomes, as described in the questionnaire form.

(5) The report must be sent electronically the 1st of September.

§ 3 Company / Institution for the Internship

(1) It is up to the student to choose an appropriate company / institution for the internship: the University of León will not assign places for the internship.

(2) Upon application of the student, the coordinator in León decides on the eligibility of the internship position on the basis of the internship regulations in due time before the start of the internship.

(3) The University of León will provide the agreement to be signed by the company, the student, and the University. All the contracts must be signed during the semester the students are in León (always before the 1st of July).

§ 4 Duration and Structure of the Internship

(1) Within the EMBS programme a three-month internship is mandatory. The internships can not begin before the 1st of June and no later than the 1st of July.

(2) The students with a 3-month internship will sign a contract ULE-Company and the student contract. The contract can not begin before the 1st of June and no later than the 1st of July. The contract can not extend later than the 30th of September.

(3) Students may do internships lasting longer than 3 months or finishing after the 30th of September: this second internship will follow the procedures established by the University of Trento. But every step should be done through the responsible person of the internships in León and in every communication with Trento, the responsible person in León should be in copy. The EMBS programme offers to the students the possibility of being supported by the University of Trento during this period until the graduation date. For this period, the University of Trento offers two different possibilities with different procedures:

• Internship with scholarship, managed by International Mobility Office. Students can submit their application by the end of every month to start their internship at earliest 45 days after. In order to be eligible, there are specific criteria to meet as regards GPA and language knowledge. More info: https://international.unitn.it/outgoing/open- selection-calls see “Traineeship abroad”
• Internship without scholarship, managed by Job Guidance Office (activation procedure online through ESSE3). More information: https://www.jobguidance.unitn.it/en/studenti-e-neolaureati/start-an-internship

§ 5 Internship grants

(1) Students can apply for one of the following grants given by the University of León and the University of Trento. The application does not imply the grant, as there are a limited number of grants to be given per year to all the students of those Universities.
University of León: https://www.unileon.es/estudiantes/internacional- movilidad/estudiantes/movilidad-internacional/erasmus-practicas/convocatoria
University of Trento: https://international.unitn.it/outgoing/open-selection-calls

§ 6 Insurance Coverage

(1) The student has to provide himself for insurance coverage during the internship. The Universities are not liable for any damage the student might cause or suffer during the internship. The insurance coverage is mandatory.

(2) Students who undertake a long internship are covered by a public-liability insurance provided by University of Trento (accident insurance and third part liability insurance). An illustrative report about the insurance conditions is available in the Download Box at http://international.unitn.it/outgoing/services-and-facilities. Nevertheless, each student is also required to be provided with his/her own health insurance, based on the conditions of both destination and origin country.

§ 7 Times absent

Any times missed due to sickness or similar reasons have to be caught up.

§ 8 Acceptance and Exemption of the Internship

Internships which have been completed during another degree programme cannot be taken into account.
